It is with sadness we report that Peter Antram OE, the treasurer of the Edmundian Association, has died after a long period of declining health.
Peter came into St Hugh’s in 1963 and proceeded into Douglass, where he remained until 1972. He was a member of the Choir, a sacristan. and served as a School Prefect. His younger brother Stephen attended St Edmund’s between 1967 and 1976.
After embarking upon a degree course in business at the Polytechnic of Central London (now the University of Westminster), he decided upon a career in accountancy, and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1977.
Peter had a forty year career with the US multi-national food production company Cargill, in numerous finance roles based in many places around the world.
After retirement, Peter retained an interest in commodities and finance issues, and enjoyed his passion for coaching young people in playing chess.
He joined the committee of the Edmundian Association in 2022 and had been a positive contributor as Treasurer bringing tremendous experience from his extensive career, despite being physically unwell.
Peter John Antram was born on 8 July 1954. He passed away on 11 February 2025, having been fortified by the Last Rites of the Church.
