On Saturday 11 July 2026, David Rozalla (St Hugh’s & Talbot 1959-69) organised a reunion for 1960s Old Edmundians at the Star Tavern, Belgravia. The meet-up was a great success. Some 22 students plus a former teacher spent three happy hours reminiscing about life nearly 60 years ago. David collated a slide show of nearly 200 photos from that era and also screened the film Carry On St Edmund's.

The attendees were:

Kevin Brougham (Talbot 1962-68), Paul Cadier (St Hugh’s & Douglass 1959-68), Phil Collins (Talbot 1961-68), Barry Cusack (Douglass 1962-67), Alastair Emblem (St Hugh’s & Challoner 1958-67), Nigel Fenner-Fownes (Douglass 1967-72), Alan Fitzjohn (Talbot 1961-66), Adrian Gilbert (Challoner 1962-67), Jeremy Gillham (Junior House & Talbot 1963-69), Jan Golaszewski (Talbot 1962-67), Bill Holloway (Talbot 1961-68), Shawn Keogh (Talbot 1964-67), Michael Maslinski (St Hugh’s & Challoner 1962-70), Mike McCrory (Junior House & Challoner 1961-68), Richard Mullens (St Hugh’s & Douglass 1959-66), Terry Noë (Douglass 1966-72), Alan Parkinson (Talbot 1962-68), Mike Ratzer (Challoner 1962-65), Roger Reading (St Hugh’s & Talbot 1962-68), David Rozalla (St Hugh’s & Talbot 1959-69), Mike Stone (Junior House & Challoner 1962-68), John Vaughan Shaw (Academic Staff 1964-2009) & Eamonn Vincent (Challoner & Poynter 1967-70)

There was a lot of positive feedback - here are some of the comments:

“Thanks so much David for getting us all together for what turned out to be a really enjoyable and nostalgic event. Even though from the ‘other side’, I felt very gratified  by the welcome I enjoyed. For all its quirks, SEC was a good place, as you all prove!”  John Vaughan-Shaw

“Thank you for organising yesterday’s event. It was a great success. All sorts of amusing memories, which had been lying dormant for nearly 60 years, were re-awakened.”  Eamonn Vincent

“I was delighted to see you all and to share our reminiscences whilst mulling over the old photographs and records which were on display. Our Edmundian camaraderie is a strong bond which was lovely to experience and to share together. Thanks for your help in making this such a special day.”  Jan Golaszewski
