The Story So Far...
At St Edmund's we pride ourselves on managing our resources prudently but the truth is if we want to continue to offer the best we can we need to look at other sources of revenue, as many other independent schools do.
With this in mind in 2015 we conducted a consultative study amongst our parent body from teh Prep and College and also out wide-reaching alumni, to help tailor a strategy and develop an appropritae plan of action.
Overwhelming feedback from this study showed that our parents and alumni would suppot development in two key areas: bursaries to support those students whose families could not otherwise consider an Edmundian education and, facilities-wise, improving our provision for sport, music and drama as well as refurbishing social spaces for both the College and Prep. The study also enabled us to set a financial goal of £3 million raised by the end of our anniversary year in 2018. Following this consultative study a number of meetings and discussions took place and to date our St Edmund's community has already donated nearly £1.6 million!
We are so grateful to all involved in the study and those who have given so generously.
How can you help?
House Areas - the House system at St Edmund's College and Prep has offered generations of stuents a place to belong and to be proud of. With your support we want all students to feel that sense of pride and belinging in a House area that is fit for purpose, with locakers that can accommodate their belongings, where House meetings can be held in smart surroundings in House colours and somewhere where students can relax in comfort with friends at break times. Can you help move us towards our goal of refurbishing the remaining two House areas in our 450th year?
The Old Chapel - for generations, Edmundians have used this building either to come together in prayer, recreational activities or more recently, to play table tennis, a sport where we have competed at a very high standard. Currently not in use, we want to bring this buidling into the centre of life at the College and Prep and for it to be used to support our sporting, drama and musical ambitions. Refurbishing this space will have a transformational effect, allowing our students (and staff and parents perhaps?) to pursue a wider range of sports and healthy lifestyle activities. In the evenings it will be used as a venue for music recitals, drama performances as well as providing additional recreational space for our boarding community.
Could you support these projects and help us achieve them in our 450th anniversary year by making a one-off donation of any size or perhaps considering a monthly donation over a three or five years?
