Medical Society Dinner with Old Edmundians

Old Edmundians support our Medical Society Students
19 Apr 2018
News
In April, the Edmundian Association kindly supported a trip out for our Medical Society students to attend a lecture given by Dr Carol Brayne, a professor of public health medicine and director of the Cambridge Institute of Public Health in the University of Cambridge, at the Royal Society of Medicine. After the lecture we were joined for dinner by current parent Dr Caroline Hartley, a consultant paediatrician, Dr James Hartley, OE, who has just completed his first year as a Junior Doctor, Joe Cutteridge, OE, who attends Queens' College, Oxford, studying Medicine and Sam Michail, OE, who attends St George's, London also studying Medicine.
The dinner was a wonderful opportunity for the students to connect with people who are doing the job and living the life of a medical or trainee practitioner. Our guests did a wonderful job talking with the students, describing their journeys and giving their 'top tips' for getting into Medical school. Everyone's story is different so our students really benefitted listening to our guests' experiences.
We hope to run more events similar to this for our other Societies and for our students in general. If you would like to help, please do get in touch
