Patrick Edwin John Knight was born on 1 December 1938 in north London and attended St Hugh’s between 1949 and 1951, and then Talbot until 1955, when he left after completing his GCE O-Levels. He was in the 2nd XV Rugby team, a stage assistant for school plays and was a member of the CCF.

After completing National Service in a tank regiment in North Africa, in 1965 he trained and qualified as a dentist. The following year he married Jan Borgan and they had two children. They settled in Taunton, Somerset, where he established a dental practice.

Patrick died peacefully at a nursing home on St Edmund’s Day, 16 November 2023, at the age of 84.
