Following on from our successful Law Society trip involving Old Edmundians, the Alumni Office took the Medical Society students to a public lecture on dementia at the Royal Society of Medicine and followed this with a dinner at the RSM. We invited a number of special guests to the dinner including Old Edmundians and one current parent. We were delighted to welcome Joe Cutteridge (07-16) who is studying Medicine at Cambridge; Sam Michail (00-12) who is in his fourth year of studying Medicine at St George’s University of London; James Hartley (04-11) who was just finishing his first year as a Junior doctor; and Dr Caroline Hartley, current parent, who works as a Paediatrician.
The students enjoyed attending the lecture in a modern lecture theatre, giving them a taste of student life to come. We were lucky enough to be able to hold the networking dinner in the same building. We are very grateful to all our guests who gave their time to speak with the students and give them the benefit of their experience. Joe and Sam were able to accurately describe the first few years of study, whilst James and Dr Hartley were able to complete the picture with their experience as doctors. The students found the evening inspirational, increasing their motivation to progress their careers in the Medical profession.
